| How stupid is he to try to introduce a bill to pay federal workers? I mean, I fully support federal workers being paid. But why not just hand Trump exactly what he wants--lessened pain points to end the shut down and opening a dangerous door to other piecemeal solution (e.g., pay troops, fund SNAP, etc.) that could cause the shutdown to drag on? I'm a lifelong Democrat who thinks Congress is a complete disgrace. Stop waiting for the polls to tell you when to end the shutdown. It's time for adults to come into a room a negotiate a deal. |

| Wut op. Van hollen represents a region that is probably nearly 75% or upwards full of either federal employees, contractors or federal adjacent constituents. Ofc he would rally for paying feds. Federal dollars is HOW this region functions! You must not be from around here. This is not stupid at all. This is politics. |
