D1 mens Scholarships

Has anyone heard if the B1g ten or ACC schools are going to have 100% 48 full ride scholarships for their mens teams?

Unlikely but it appears some teams have gone far being the previous limits with the multiple signings.

Yes, they are not.

They definitely won't be funding anywhere close to 48. But there will be a arms race among the top programs as to how many they do fund.
If anybody knows how many any D1 schools are actually funding, I would be interested to know.
Plus, keep in mind that schools frequently combine lacrosse and academic scholarships to grant packages that only count partially against the lacrosse scholarship allotment.

Just say you don’t know because you don’t. The landscape has changed.

I don’t think any lacrosse program actually makes a profit, let alone cover their costs. The only way I see this will working is if a rich dude wants his Alma mater to win will put up money/donate. It would probably be in the news. But since ChatGPT doesn’t know about it it probably hasn’t happened.

They’re definitely might be more incentive to stack merit with athletic scholarship?

If you think nothing has changed you are wrong. The teams that opted in no longer have a scholarship restriction. While I do not think any team will fully fund 48 scholarships a small number of teams may increase to 15 to 20. This will be a big deal as some schools that have large football programs will be able to recruit better. There will be a talent gap at the top. Ivy league and the academies also have a lot offer. The smaller private colleges may find it harder to get the players they used to. Not too long ago Loyola had the best player in the county and was competing for NC but would be tougher today.

Free ride to Ohio state versus full pay at Harvard or Princeton… hmmm. ROI at ivy could be better.

UNC went full and everyone else opting in will be forced to follow.

It is starting slowly, but will see more like this until most competitive D1s (ex. Ivy) are funding between 25 and 35, if not all slots: https://virginiasports.com/news/2025/09/18/mens-lacrosse-receives-two-seven-figure-commitments-establishing-new-scholarship-endowments/

Wouldn't be shocked to see some of the women's team come close to (or reach) fully funded also.

It is a brave new world, lacrosse fans.

The school is in the process of endowing the scholarships that were already there for non-revenues. Not new ones.
