I ate more on zepbound and lost 20 lbs

Anonymous
Anyone else? I’m a vigilant tracker so I know this to be true. I weighed 155 starting at 5’6” - I had a baby at 43 and was up 20 pounds 3 years later and could not budge. I ate healthy meals and didn’t snack and worked out and nada. I have been able to eat 3 meals a day on zepbound. I’m eating way more. It’s pretty crazy.

Same, except on Wegovy. Lost weight but ate more.

ate more total calories every day yet weight went down? how long did it take to lost that 20 lbs? you're not even overweight to begin with. this is mindboggling.

This could mean anything.
Unless you can say with certainty I ate 1500 calories a day before and ate 1800 on zepbound and lost weight. You really can't claim you "ate more" and lost weight. Most people eat more than they think and fail to count the small bites here and there which ruins their progress. When i was on a GLP1 I felt like I are more in that i at 3 meals a day, but the difference was I stopped eating sooner and never snacked or picked on food before or after meals because it took away those impulses.

Yeah I'm confused by this whole scenario.

This is why those of us not on a glp1 are so envious. I am a fine weight, but spend much time and mental space in my day tracking what I eat and the macros, pre-planning meals, depriving myself, so on. I almost want to gain 20 lbs just to be able to go on a glp1, based on the amazing and mostly effort-free results so many people have on the drugs.

Same.

Weight watchers tracking so 19 points but essentially 1200 calories to maintain weight and being overweight by 15 lbs. looking at obese in a few more lbs.

I’ve lost 10lbs in 16 weeks eating about 1500-1800 calories.

This. I have a friend on GLP1 who consistently claims he's eating the same as he did before but I know it's not true because of the snacking. It's someone I go out to dinner or drinks with frequently and before the GLP he'd be the first to order an extra round of apps or insist on getting multiple desserts for the table. These are calories it's impossible to track because it's shared food and who knows how much you actually ate? He doesn't do this anymore and if other people order things, he'll have a bite or two and nothing else. He also regularly leaves uneaten food on his plate which he never did before. But he perceives himself as eating the same because he's eating the same kinds of foods and spending about the same amount of money on it. But he's not eating as much because he feels full. That's how the drugs work.

They are not mysteriously melting fat away.

I call BS that you are 1200 cal/ day EVERY DAY for 1-2 months and lost nothing. A. Most people can not stick to 1200 cal a day. They tend to do it for a few days, get ravenous then over eat and start again. B. They are not consistent- meaning they eat these calories 90-100% of the time for a solid month. c. Losing while eating 1500-1800 cal for someone who is overweigh/weights more than 150 lbs is right on track for what they need to be in a deficit and lose weight. The thing is we are told we need to eat 1200 cal to lose weight so assume more that that will not work. Sure you will lose faster with a larger deficit, but rarely do people actually stick to that large deficit long enough to lose.

I say this as someone who has been on a GLP1 and I lost weight because i was more able to stick to my calorie target because I wasn't hungry all the time. got full faster and was able to stop eating vs continuing to eat even when the food was tasty.

+1. Plus consistency. With a GLP1, people are much more consistent with their eating than without.

Don't be envious, most will not stay on there medications for life and once they go off the hunger will return and they will eventually regain the weight.

My endocrinologist said once I start I'll be on it for life. im overweight have hashimotos and am at risk for diabetes b/c of having gestational diabetes previously. so I do think ill b in tes meds for life. you should change your diet b/c they affect insulin release and if you put to much pressure on your pancreas by eating sweets- you could develop pancreatitis and have to come off the meds.

You’re not eating more.

It was 1200 for a year and I lost 10 lbs the 1st 3 months. Then I was stuck. I never lost “fast”.

I tracked points but WW added calories to their app recently so I can look at my calories.

My nutritionist thought 1200 was too low but that’s how WW worked for me . I was 185 down to 175. I’m 5’8” But got stuck for 9 months.

Due to medical issues I was motivated but stuck. So I went on a GLP-1.
