family marathons

I've started running in marathons, should I try to involved my DH and teenagers? They seem open to it but I'm not sure if it would just be more annoyance?

I would never do this with your family, but if your family runs, it might be a nice bonding experience.

Why on earth would you do that? (Unless they really, really want to do it.) Training is a huge time commitment. It can just be your thing.

Do a turkey trot run or family 5k or a charity run or the 10 miler if you must. But marathon, no.

An annoying – at marathon? Do they actually have the physical ability? As you should know, it takes a ton of training. Do they have the strength time and ability for that?

So weird wtf

Many marathons have an age requirement. For example, the one at Disney world requires the participant is at least 18 years old.

Agree with this. Start very, VERY small.

lol, what marathons have you run so far?

You're family will let you know if they want in on the action. Until then, slow your roll and just support them is whatever else they choose to do on their time.

I've run a dozen marathons and did an Ironman triathlon. It's all in your mind. If they can handle endurance training, they can do the race. The training is actually the difficult part.

Sadly, I have a major ankle injury due to stupidly trying to take up tennis... So my running/triathlon days are over. I'd suggest everything in moderation!

Just to be clear, you've started running marathons (so a distance of 26.2 miles.)

Not 5ks or 10ks?

they can come cheer. they can also do training runs with you or local shorter distance races. 5k is a good distance for almost anybody. teenagers really should not be running marathons.
