It seems that he will leave for Malaysia soon, then South Korea, and back in early November.

Bill to pay some (or all) federal workers is also unlikely to happen in October.

Trump will be out of town, even if Congress passes a bill later this month, he will not sign it till he is back to DC.

They’d probably just fly the bill over to him to sign.

He doesn't need to be in DC to sign.

Yeah, I don’t understand the significance of this post.

I thought Thanksgiving. Now I think December maybe. The actual pay won't be for 2 weeks after it's approved.

Does anyone have an off ramp for this? I don't think so, and I am beginning to feel some despair. Called the offices of Sens. Kaine and Warner this morning and they don't even have anyone working their phone lines - just voicemail. That's some constituent services!

The off ramp is when the Rs feel enough pressure from ACA premiums, TSA issues, no SNAP benefits, etc., and decide to negotiate. It sucks, but the Ds can’t give in.

Not sure that’s true. My contractor was told they could continue work even though I’m furloughed. They will be paid for those services.

They can’t expect people to work without pay for that long. And yes some of them are needed for things the administration wants even if they wish they could get rid of federal employees.

Some of them have front loaded money that they can work with, but for most it won’t last indefinitely.
