MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — The mother of a middle school student said her son was in a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) Thursday after an incident involving another student left him with brain injuries.
The mother said the injury came during Physical Education (PE) class Wednesday at Odessa Shannon Middle School in Silver Spring. https://www.dcnewsnow.com/news/local-news/maryland/montgomery-county/boy-left-with-brain-injuries-after-incident-involving-student-in-pe-mother-says/amp/?fbclid=IwZnRzaANnqqZleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHre8HoVnKQRDzCjfkdQUz9yUCFkrGrArK7BXMnezrIYLm2gI93BmnmjhHmK-_aem_7WabNDpcuU0Ls52G7o4__A |
| What did the kid throw?? |
|
How scary. I hope the kid is okay.
It doesn't say it was an accident (while playing a sport in class), so sounds like it was an out of control kid. |

A GoFundMe has been set up. I hope Lenny makes a full recovery. |
| Oh my goodness! I hope Lenny makes a recovery. |
| That is terrifying |
| The school needs to say whether this was done by accident or on purpose, what the object was and if on purpose what is the consequence. |
| The FB post made by the child’s mother indicated it was an intentional hit (not thrown) and a metal object was used. This is deeply disturbing and mcps needs to address the severe behaviors occurring in general education settings |
Thank you for sharing this. |
| The alleged assailant is a girl. |
In reality it doesn’t matter. Mcps needs to get a handle on safety. This is a parents worse nightmare.. |
| She posted on a local mom's page about this and people are trying to help her - with finding a lawyer and filing paperwork. So devastating. |
| Oh that poor kid. I wonder if the metal object was a water bottle? I can't think of a metal item that would be part of PE equipment. |
| My first thought was a bat if it was a softball unit |
| I feel terrible for the PE teacher who will have to live with this event for the rest of their life, even if they were completely powerless to stop or prevent it. |
