I’m 50 and still in peri. I work out regularly and I’ve noticed its getting harder maintain a flat stomach.
What do you do to reduce weight gain or keep it from getting worse? |
| It’s frustrating. Same weight but things don’t fit. Ugh. |
So is the weight shifting from muscle mass to mid section body fat? |
| After trying everything else I resorted to ozempic even though I’m not technically overweight. The midsection weight did melt right off, it was by far the most noticeable effect, I didn’t lose much if any weight elsewhere. You gotta be careful with the dosing though if you aren’t actually trying to lose very much weight |
Yes, I’ve got maybe 10 lbs. |
| You have to eat a lot less while keeping up the exercise. I discovered this when I lost several pounds last year due to stress and grief. I went back down a pant size. |
This is really, really dumb. Only do this if you don't care about your long-term health, OP. |

I am doing compounded tirz. Then you will see how little you have to eat to lose. It is terrible and unustainable without meds.
|
I should add, I don't want to do meds, but I was tired of being fat and not eating much. And still being hungry all the time. Now I weigh less, and don't eat much, but I'm not hungry. It truly takes almost no calories once you hit peri to not gain. At least for me |
I have yet to see any shred of hard evidence for this. Meanwhile there’s lots of evidence that midsection belly fat is uniquely bad for you. Eagerly awaiting the peer reviewed paper you no doubt read to come to this conclusion |
| When you lose weight you don’t just lose fat, you also lose muscle mass. Has anyone been able to lose weight on GLP-1’s without also losing muscle mass? |
No, it's hormones: the reduction in estrogen in the body causes fat to be redistributed to abdominal visceral fat. |
Yes, I have. I’ve done strength training and monitored my muscle mass with InBody scans the entire time I’ve been on a compounded tirz. I only had about 15 to lose though and did it very slowly (down 12 over the course of a year). I stayed on the lowest dose. As someone else mentioned it’s just really hard to limit calories during peri without gaining. I couldn’t lose without being constantly hungry and obsessed with food. Great tool for me but I also agree lose of muscle mass is a huge concern and you need to be smart about it. |
Seems like my legs are skinnier. Like the weight is redistributed |
Didn’t work for me |
