I am 43F and taking Norethindrone(0.35mg) for about 6 months and it has stopped my bleeding but I am seeing some other side effects such as irritability, hair loss and breast tenderness. I am always very sleepy and sex drive was low along with being overweight so not seeing much changes over there. What can I do to handle it or is this what's going to be from now on? Irritability and mood swings are very annoying.
you need to discuss this with your OBGYN. I haven't heard such major issues with mini-pill and it is important to be sane so maybe he/she has some other solutions.
This is not OK. The effects of this drug could become far worse for you than the other solution you are getting. These effects exacerbate if you take any other medications or SSRIs.
Op, have you ever thought about hysterectomy?
I’ve been on it for 2 years. It has helped me in many ways aside from then bleeding. I have a general feeling of calm and less anxiety on it. However, I have gained a lot of weight.
I went off of it because it killed my sex drive and made me feel moody and depressed.
How much weight have you gained? I have gained about 5-10 lbs in last 6-7 months since I am on BCP and I was already overweight. |
Which one are you on? |
Over 20 pounds. |
I, too, have gained weight on this medication. Bleeding for me is unpredictable and can last a while. I haven't experienced the irritability issue you describe on it. I'd definitely talk to your doctor about what you're noticing. I don't have another choice treatment, unfortunately.
Op here. My bleeding was very bad and heavy that I became anemic after 1-2 months. The BC pill is working but my bleeding comes back if I miss 1-2 days. My hormones are also all messed up since I have PCOS for a while and type 2.
did you get the blood work done. You could be several deficient in Iron if there is heavy bleeding.
I am on BC and it is making me crazy and I have gained about 10 lbs so far this year. I am 45F and overall strong built but it is also making me very tired.
did you get your hormones checked? It is going to mess with them so need to get them adjusted.
Op, your hormones are always going to be a little different because of PCOS. You need to keep a much closer eye on hormones and get it checked every couple of months.
