| He’s struggling with the supplemental essays for 11/1 deadlines. Thank goodness we have a 4-day weekend coming up, he may not apply to some on his list if he can’t pull it together. Fall sports has really swallowed up his time. Is anyone else in the same boat. It’s hard watching him and he refuses to let me give him any tips or guidance |
Ok |
| It is a tough time. Just be a calm presence. He has to make her own choices at this point. I know it’s hard to watch. |

It's tough. Help with the research....
so, for Stanford (as an example), I helped with a Google Doc of classes, cool profs, ECs, interesting articles from the paper, and events I saw. links to everything in the Google Doc to shortcut the process. DC added more as well, but good starting point. |
| Yes. Same here, also with a high-stats fall sports athlete. They'll get through it but it's going to be a tough couple of weeks. Nice idea about the Google doc help offer above. |
| Yes, it’s tough. Those supplemental essays are hard too. It’s taken mine weeks before getting to good final drafts for his early app. He’s planning to finalize them this weekend. I thought he was ahead of the game bc he finished his main essay over the summer, but nothing could’ve prepared us for senior year course load and the stress of getting all the applications together. So many moving parts. |

Sorry, should have had a low stats kid like mine. Plenty of steam.
At least he can play balll at NVCC if doesn’t apply to other colleges. |
| help him |
+100 All hands on deck in our house |
+1. Help your kid and/or get some outside writing or editing help. I agree with pp about helping with research and gathering little nugets of info they can weave into the essays. This process is too much, on top of rigorous courses and athletics, etc. Help get them to the finish line. |

"Why School" by DC
Dear school, I want to attend you because of the 10 cool reasons my mom found for me. I promise when I get there, I will actually participate in these cool things. Even though I could not find an hour in my busy schedule to look them up for myself. Sincerely, DC |
| My kid and their friends are feeling the exact same about now. |
Helpful. |
This is the precise reason the whole thing is such a game. Not by you- but by the school. They actually want a fake reason based on research. |
