When starting a thread, should the OP include a link?

I keep seeing threads that make reference to something in the OP but contain no link. Isn't it the OP's responsibility to provide the link to whatever they're talking about?

The rule that I have been trying to follow is that if I don't know what the hell you are talking about based on the original post, I am going to delete it. Obviously, I am not seeing every new thread, but that applies for the ones that I do see.

I am less concerned about a link than I am about the original post containing sufficient information. A couple of words and a link is just as bad as a few more words and no link. I think that if someone is going to start a thread, they should be sufficient effort into explaining exactly what it is that they are talking about.
