Kid's teacher misspelled "separate" on work corrections

Anonymous
Do you just ignore this? Kid is in 5th. Corrections were carefully written out. I'm just disappointed.

Ignore. Just go over how to spell it with your kid.

Is this a joke or a troll post? Or are you serious? No one is perfect, OP, so let it go.

We all have our "words." Mine is "occasion." Ask me to spell it on the spot, and I will get it wrong 75% of the time.

Wow. I’m a teacher. I’m frantically trying to get 70 hours of work crammed into 55, just so I can raise my own children.

I’m sure I make the occasional mistake because of the pace at which I have to work. (That, and the fact I’m a human.) I’d hate to think I’m so judged by a parent that she had to rush to DCUM to make a comment about a misspelling.

Give them a little grace OP.

I am an editor and while I get it, truly—everyone makes mistakes and life isn’t about spelling. Pointing it out is petty.

I spelled it wrong all the time too.

That and liaison

Separate is one of the 100 most commonly misspelled words. I’d let it go. Teachers are busier than they were when we were kids. Planning time is getting squeezed with new responsibilities. Just teach your kid how to duel it and move on. The fact that you are “disappointed” says more about your character than the teacher’s efficacy.

If you want teachers that never misspell words, you need to make teaching a much high paid career. You aren't getting lawyer- or editor-quality who just happened to prefer teaching!

*Much more highly paid career.

That’s the word I lost a spelling bee to in 6th grade. Still haunts me lol.

However, I’ve never misspelled it again since!

Well, this is rather insulting.

I suppose this is DCUM, where we can’t pass up the opportunity to slam teachers!

It can’t POSSIBLY be that an intelligent teacher made a simple mistake. The PP can’t imagine that smart people chose a purposeful career.
