PVS Results files

It used to be that PVS put up the file results (so then you could submit them to sites - swimcloud, etc.) It appears that they took all the files down and no longer post.

Anyone know the story?

Probably too many nosy parents looking up kids' birthdays. Especially during the months of June and July.

There have been concerns about the privacy of minors online (names, birthdates, locations, affiliations, etc.). True, there are reasons why the way the sport's data works doesn't help with that, but the spirit of the concern has led to some organizations and sites not posting data publicly (even though it can generally be found elsewhere anyway).

I'm not sure that PVS isn't posting, though (genuinely don't know and haven't heard). Often meet results are extremely late, which is always my first guess.

The meet results are up for all the meets, it is the zip files that swimcloud, swimmetry, etc. import into their systems that are no longer available It could have been a space issue to house all those zip files.

I am not sure why the change.

Perhaps USA Swimming wants to have a monopoly on the data and rankings?

I think it is an issue with hytek. Hytek is no longer patching its software and probably will not be in business for much longer. It has been the industry standard with little competition. Swimtopia is now in the field and will probably end up taking over.

In the meantime, all these swim sites will have issues getting the files.

They don’t have to. It is easy to unselect the birthday from hytek. It’s literally just unclicking a box.

MySwimIO is basically useless now since it can’t get results from Virginia Swimming or PVS.

Virginia Swimming posted that their BoD voted to only post PDFs. I wonder is this is a larger push from USA Swimming to no longer share the meet result files. PVS hasn't published BoD meeting minutes since June so it's hard to tell why on the PVS side.

This would ruin swimcloud (incredibly useful for college) and all of the sites. It would made USA swimming the only game in town and their site is trash.
