What’s happening at Blair?

Kid says a bunch of police/firefighters/security for unknown reason.

Is the school in a HOLD or SECURE?

Sorry I don’t know. Kid was able to walk into the school, so probably not in an emergency status.

What's the buzz? Tell me what's happening!

I dropped kid and friend in the rain at 7:30 and fire truck and ambulance were just pulling in; I asked kid for an update when they knew what was up. Kid texted me at 11:00 that they had no idea what was going on, so presumably it is all over and wasn't a big deal... a little unnerving though.

It could have been anything, and sounds like a medical emergency. Please, folks, think about whether you would want your kid's seizure, or blood sugar incident, or slip-and-fall, turned into a DCUM thread. If we didn't hear about it, we didn't need to hear about it.

Kid was hit by a car today crossing colesville at Lanark in a crosswalk during the walk signal. Kid is thankfully ok. Crosswalk needs lights or a guard.

Oh my.
People, if you can, contact and keep contacting State Highway Admin SHA and your elected[i][u] county members! There are parents who have been working and advocating to bring safer crossing of crosswalks and intersections especially around schools. Some success stories but so much more needs to be done. There is a parent at BCC HS who has for few years tried to get the county and state to install a pedestrian crossing near the intersection of East West Highway and Montgomery in Bethesda to no avail. A few accidents were reported at that location. Do what you can do!

This. My kid seriously broke their arm at school one day in a freak accident that was absolutely nobodies fault. The school called 911 and a fire truck and ambulance responded. The amount of chatter on the parents list serve about it was insane with strangers wanting to know all the details.

In that case my kid didn’t feel awkward about people knowing, but I could envision my kid wanting some privacy if it was something more sensitive.

I think kid being hit by a car on the way to school is different from a medical emergency. We should’ve been told.

Why is that different?

Thought this thread was about their football team starting 0-3 and losing all their games by more than 30.
