| if not full, what are the typical scholarships awarded - 10-20%? |
| a 25% scholarship for a D1 x-country team would be very very good. Not many higher than that historically, but may have changed at power 4 with rev share house settlement |
| I know someone who went to Stanford on a full ride XC/track scholarship. |
| Yes of course but golf and tennis will have very few allotted per team . I think it’s like 4.5 on a roster of maybe 10 |
that's great, but it's far from the norm. Guessing they were one of the top in the country so to the OP, yes BUT for even the local/regional standout I'd expect nothing. If you're competing at National events, it's just a maybe. |
| Why are you lumping xc with golf and tennis? |
|
With the roster changes, I think most Power 4 schools have moved to 100% scholarships for all sports…but rosters have been cut and some sports eliminated.
You of course have to be tops in the world because that’s your completion. Big article of colleges recruiting Kenyan distance runners as example. |
Was that person Grant Fisher, by any chance? |
| Everything has changed with revenue sharing so answers are still developing, but I think that scholarships may now be more generous. |
| So, no one gets educated? |
| So most kids don't just run XC- they do mid and long distance track events for both indoor and outdoor so it becomes a three season commitment. For mid-tier D1- it could be 60-70% for big programs it could be 70-100%. But you have to be fast no matter the level of program. |

My son graduated from an FCPS high school with very strong XC/track program.
I can recall: 2 males to UVA 1 male to MIT 1 male to Alabama 1 female to UVA 1 female to VT 1 female to Alabama All on scholarships. My son was next tier of talent (only had D3 offers). He chose to go to SEC school and competed on the club triathlon team (which he absolutely loved). He raced against the two brothers from FCPS who went to Stanford. They were elite, national title athletes in high school. Oldest one was an Olympian in steeplechase. All of the others above won state championships at some point in their XC/track events. |
| Good luck getting a full scholarship in d1 tennis. I mean there are unicorns I guess |
They asking full scholarship |
what conferences would be considered mid tier for D1 cross country? |
