All these days off...

This calendar is an embarrassment!! The School Board needs to be fired. We are looking at weeks on end of 4 day school.

How have we come to accept this for our children? For our community?

it sucks for ES but is great for HSers.

As a parent of HSers, I find nothing great about this. Our kids need to be in school now and not in June!!!!

Fire the School Board!!!!

And someone will make another thread next Thursday… that’s how this forum rolls.

This post sounds remarkably similar to the rants a certain someone posts on social media, especially with the extraneous exclamation marks. #DumbingDownofSociety

It's almost as if more school days would help...keep parents from posting online

Not really.

High schoolers would much rather get out of school the end of May with fewer days off on the front end.

I get it but the handwringing does no good.

Yeah, how dare non-Christians celebrate their holidays. Terrible.

We need a new school board that will take a more balanced approach. The current push to close schools for every religious holiday makes the year drag on far too long. By the time Memorial Day comes, students and teachers are checked out — yet the calendar stretches into mid-June, which feels like wasted time.

On top of that, middle schoolers who attend secondary schools end up with even more days off since they follow the high school schedule. The system is not working well for families, teachers, or students. We need leaders who will put instruction and efficiency first, not politics, when setting the school calendar.

I prefer it to long summers off. I think it is better for the kids anyway. It is more of a hassle for the parents of younger kids who can’t be left alone.

That’s the quiet part that OP won’t say out loud.

It’s a beautiful day, go outside and enjoy it with your kids.

Haven't we always had Rosh Hashanah off? I did as a kid. Why would it be the school board's fault? Yes, the date changes every year, that's how it works.

My kid's at martial arts today. It's fine.

Everyone is welcome to celebrate whatever holiday they want.

Let the rest of us go to school.
