SEC - Reorg

Anonymous
Will there be a ReOrg at some point? Any word on whether there will be opportunities for staff to go to other offices that were impacted by people leaving? Or are we first waiting to see if management takes the early retirement and then consider broader numbers.

I don’t know but they need to wrap it up. Mgmt 101 says to do these things quickly, not draaaaag them out over 10 plus months, as employees are paralyzed by uncertainty and productivity plummets. It’s absurd.

And I haven’t heard a peep about what they’re considering for any “reorg.” I guess it’s top secret.

I mean, DOGE is still there so...

Enforcement managers said they need to wait to see the results of the supervisor early retirement offer that were just announced. Then they will consider a reorg.

it feels like some divisions are closer to a reorg than others, i'm curious if they will end up being staggered.

anyway, hurry up and wait.

Which ones are closer to a reorg?

If you haven't heard of or possibly know someone who has gotten a glimpse of a new org chart, then I guess your division isn't one of them? You can just wait and wonder like the rest of us.

I get why they want to reorg OIT. But the rest seems to be more moving people around to get the right ratios of managers to staff. But, whatever. They don’t seem to be able to get anything done. Not a single rule proposal. Everything is policy statements or extending compliance dates. So far they appear completely incapable of managing the agency.

And now that DOGE is gone, the Chairman is the target of staff’s ire. Maybe he doesn’t understand that running around saying staff is overpaid, benefits are too generous and they will never get telework back while he’s there isn’t going to inspire staff to work overtime to get anything done. Everyone will do their jobs for 8 hours per day. But anyone who has been around long enough knows any serious rulemaking requires people working many more hours than 40 per week. Good luck with that, Chairman.

Well it looks like they might have the same guy chairing both SEC and CFTC so a merger seems inevitable.

They're gone? When did they leave?

Sorry - when did the chairman say that his staff is overpaid with benefits too generous and they’ll never get telework back? Genuinely asking because I didn’t hear this and if it’s the case need to at least try to leave.

Does leadership not understand this behavior will have consequences? Eventually the labor market will improve and more and more people will leave. These agencies will be left with the loser staff and make leadership look bad. At my agency it’s now openly acknowledged how terrible leadership is and that they dislike us. Nothing is forever and leadership seems to be incredibly short sighted.

NP. I’m sure he didn’t say it publicly. But word gets around and I’ve heard this too.

I have heard this too, particularly for the monetary benefits we get. He thinks they are too lavish. Dont spend that 1% raise in one place folks!

Is it really surprising? At the union meeting I went to they relayed the same thing except the telework part, but I'm sure those are his true feelings. And anyone thinking we will get TW back is living in cuckoo land. If this bothers you I suggest you indeed try to leave, because this is what's in store, and thinking otherwise is delusional at this point.
