Do you feel that your school is a good value?

Currently debating whether to keep my kid in a private school or send them back to public. At 60k (without financial aid) I would want them to stay if the quality was superb and they didn’t have an extremely bad teacher recruitment. But the school is having problems recruiting good teachers, so i am debating on moving my kid to public. Does something similar happen in your DC school or it is something specific to my situation?

Op, it really depends on you and your finances, your definition of “superb”, and “good teacher” - all these are really subjective. There will be good teachers and not so great. Great teachers that your dc may not particularly click with, or may not be happy that they are pushing them more or being strict with them, etc. 60K does not entitle you to have it your way in everything, because it is a school and decisions get made at principal and board levels that may not satisfy everyone in the community.

Right on time with your usual troll threads. We know who you are and you should leave.

I would leave if you aren’t feeling like there is value in the school. Tuition is a lot of money to pay if you aren’t happy - you can be unhappy in public school for free (and might even be happy!).

We continue to find lots of value in paying for private for our three kids, especially as they get older. It is worth a lot to me that they are in a school community where they know most teachers, the teachers know them, and I can call an adult and get support for my kid if there is a problem. I also feel like my kids are learning a lot.

We also have a large enough income that we are not stretching to pay the tuition. But it’s a lot of money, so I definitely think about the value every time we have to make a payment!

I am not focused if they click or not but mostly on the content of the classes on how much they learn. I do feel that the school performance is mediocre relative to public. But I might be wrong.

Our child attends a k-8. We liked it the first couple of years, but at this point, I would say it is not on par with the better public options in our area, unfortunately.

That’s make a big difference. If the kids are learning and you are happy. Then the expense is worth it.

Pp here. For better or worse, we might stay, given the options at the MS and HS level in our area. Not happy about that and currently assessing options.

That sucks. I am in the same situation. It’s not even like I can complain because it’s so underwhelming the quality of education.

You are invited to read this thread. You seem to be the only one that thinks I am troll.

Definitely specific to your situation. As evidenced by this board, everyone else is perfectly happy with their kid’s school.

Very accurate description. 2 people are happy and 2 people are unhappy.

No. But my kid feels safe there is thriving unlike at our public school so that is priceless.
