Does your teen DD spend a lot of time in her room?

Is that normal? DD17 - good grades, friends seem nice, busy with her sport, applying to colleges, PT job, etc.

Spends a good amount of her limited time at home in her room. She comes down if we ask (for meals or family time or whatever) but if we don’t specifically ask, she is generally in her room.

Normal or no? Should I worry or take it personally?

Absolutely normal. Teens want their own space, away from the drifting eyes and ears of their parents.

As long as she doesn’t miss any of her obligations it’s very normal.

What’s the big deal you busybody

No because our house is tiny, and no one really goes into their bedrooms unless to sleep, or shelter if bedlam has broken out in the main living-dining area (defined as Mom vacuuming or mopping energetically, or a violin lesson, or playdate of the younger sibling). My teens lounge on the living room couch most of the time.

No surprise at all that if she has limited time at home, she wants to use it to decompress.

I prefer when mine is in her room and out of my hair.
