How much would you worry about radiation from neck x-ray?

How concerned would you be about the radiation in a neck x-ray for a 4-year-old (to check adenoids)?

My kid has to get neck x-rays for a different reason, and I honestly never even thought about radiation risk. I’m much more concerned about how I will keep him calm and still enough to get the x-rays done, as he has been traumatized by past medical procedures. I assume one exposure isn’t a big deal and that the doctors know what they are doing. My kid has too many real problems for me to spend time worrying about hypothetical ones.

Why do his adenoids need to be checked?

zero concern.

None. Don’t use the X-ray recreationally, but for medical purposes don’t worry.

For one x ray? Not concerned. And yes I do try to be conscious of radiation exposure overall. I would be more concerned if it were a ct scan.

To see if they’re enlarged.

No concern, I'd be more concerned not doing it.

Interesting. What are you doing about background radiation?
