If you are Indian-American...why would you not apply to IITs?

Anonymous
Have you thought about this? You have a right to study in India in IITs (If you are able to get admission) for a fraction of price, especially if you have an OCI card.

You are out of your clueless mind. IIT is a lot more competitive than ivies. Not on the same level.

For the most part, Indians only apply to US colleges because they can’t get into the IIT schools.

The acceptance rates are less than 1%.

OP - what motivated you to ask this? what did you hear?

You sound dim OP. What do you mean by an Indian-American having "the right" to study in India. Are you assuming that every Indian-American also has Indian citizenship?

In any case, IIT also accepts foreigners--so you can apply for your own children if you're interested.

Why would an Indian American go to college in India?? That makes no sense.

UMD will take you - biomedical now that computer science is getting crushed by AI

Because,
a. I can't get in (as in, I cannot pass the JEE)
b. I don't want to study engineering
c. I don't want to go to college in India
d. I don't want to live in India post-graduation
e. I don't want to go to a school that is 80% male

Oops, forgot the last one

f. I don't speak Hindi (I only speak a regional Indian language), so I would not have any semblance of a social life

And that goes for any college in East Asia as well - China, Japan, Korea. The top ones are more selective with more grind than the ones here. Why do you think we have such a foreign contingent who is ready to pay EXORBITANT prices to study in the US?

Lol yep I went to Harvard and there is no way I would have passed the IIT entrance exam. I have seen it (for my own year).

Indian American here. I imagine it would be hard for a lot of kids raised in the US to navigate college life in India.

It makes sense if they could actually get in, but that’s extremely unlikely.

Next up OP will ask (out of curiosity) why African Americans do not send their children to Africa for college.

IIT Madras
IIT Jabalpur

If you can speak English, you can go anywhere. F is not relevant.
