Has anyone tried the after-school language classes offered at some MCPS elementary schools through the organization "Big Learning"? Any feedback on them? |
It was ok. My child didn't really enjoy it but she did learn a little Spanish. |
It's not THAT educational, but it can be fun and it's a nice alternative to aftercare. |
My child didn't do a language class, but a science class, with Big Learning. While the teacher was nice enough, she clearly didn't know the material, was reading from a lesson plan, and couldn't answer any questions. I was underwhelmed and my son didn't really learn anything. |
Also, make sure you have a back up plan. We had a situation where mcps canceled after school activities starting at 5pm re: possible icing, and Big Learning sent out something at 3:30 for a 3:50 school dismissal canceling the 4-5pm classes that day. We got an apology and they added on another week but it was not a great situation. |
