Maret Athletic Fields

Can anyone provide an update on the opening of the Maret athletic field? Haven't seen any updates on this in a while and the fields look ready for play

It is taken forever. Maybe they didn’t pass a few inspections. Otherwise they should have announced the opening much earlier. I am not surprised as the school is so opaque with their communications.

Homecoming is on the field. It’s well publicized

I missed that. I thought the field initially was scheduled for completion in June. 4 month delay it’s not bad for the school.

Neighbors are probably doing everything they can with dc gov to slow walk the opening

There are reasons to be suspicious after the Jelleff field deal fiasco.

What’s going in w Maret and facilities in general? At Back To School Night, the stairwells looked in disrepair. The theater was still not done and I thought it was supposed to be ready for this school year. I have not heard anything about the fields but we were told in the spring that our kids would be practicing there for this season. Is this an issue with the Head or the person in charge of facilities? I feel like something is off.

You are absolutely right. Something is off with the head of school. I guess that when you earn $700k you are not much worried about the rest.

Are visitors going to park on neighborhood streets, or is there a parking lot nearby? If it's the former and I lived in that residential area, I'd be p'od.

All I know is that the person in charge of these projects was promoted to Associate Head and he treats us teachers as if we are leaching off benefits and time off. Meanwhile, we are dealing with teaching in a building that constantly has problems and timelines are never met. I guess accountability is only for faculty.

there is a small parking lot, but the whole of the north side of Nebraska Ave is without any houses from Utah down to the property line, and it isn't like many people go to the games. It isn't a huge school.

Comms on this from the school are really bad.

Agree.

Does that mean DC residents will finally get their fields back?

Maybe another private school will try to grab it.
