APS I pad changes

Anonymous
Went to BTSN at my child’s APS elementary and was surprised to hear that students now share their iPads rather than have their own. I think this is great as less screen time but does anyone know what brought about this change? Previously they seemed to tout how APS has enough tech for each individual student so I’m curious if it’s budget led or teacher/parent/less screen time led. I want to think this is a great shift?!

This is not the case at my child’s school. Last night the teacher said they were still waiting on two children to get their own iPads but the rest of the class has their own. 5th grade.

What grade is your child? There is a change in policy but I believe it’s for kindergarteners and first graders

This is something the much maligned APE worked on. I hope they continue to reduce the use in the classroom. I know my 8th grader has been gradually doing more on paper.

That’s great! Hopefully they also start giving more written work and reducing screen time.
