Is anyone as sad as I am about Livingston Park?

Just to walk by there and see the gates locked and that ugly fence around everything makes me so sad.
That park has been an old friend for so long; not only to me, but to so many kids that have played there.
Except for the old house that needs updating (outdoor public bathrooms, etc.), I'm wondering why things
need to be updated-again? They just redid the baseball field, and put relatively recently new play
equipment on the playground.
Just wondering if anyone feels the same way I do about this great park? :o(

You're upset that someone is updating a park?

I personally don't see that it needs to be updated, except for the old house and restroom issue.

80% of the playground / equipment hasn't been updated in 18 years. Is that what you mean by "relatively recently"?

Very sad, indeed! When will our park be back?

Not really, I'm kinda tired of picking wood chips out of my kid's mouth

In any event, the newer big kid stuff is staying and the baseball field is getting some drainage fixes.

They are renovating the tot lot (cracked cement/ fall hazards/not ADA accessible etc.) and the older equipment to make it more toddler friendly. They are also adding a spray fountain.

The rec center/room is atrocious and the lack of bathrooms is a PITA.

I'm disappointed that I can't use the park for a few months but the trade off will be well worth it.

Per DPR time line it will be ready by April.

Noticed that over the weekend some parents "let themselves into" the park with their kids. Just an FYI, I called the city to find out about the timeline of the renovation and asked why it was closed, with nary a bulldozer in sight. They told me they sprayed weed killer or some sort of herbicide and closed it. I'm sure it's fine now since it is dry, but just an FYI.

Also, they said they are set to start work any day and that the earliest it will open is February. They will be posting more information on the DCPR website. The new playground will include a spray park, a toddler/preschool age playground, and a separate big kids playground. Hoping they do a sandbox in the style of Turtle Parks--walk in, but don't know.
