Central office question

Looking at the MCPS calendar there are days listed as offices closed and then some say system wide closure offices closed. What’s the difference between the two? Schools are closed during both types. Are employees paid given the type of closure or have to use their own leave? Or are they still working with one type even of the office is closed? A specific example is on the calendar is nov. 26 is a system wide closure while nov. 27 and 28 are closed.

Whether an employee is paid for a closure is dictated by their union contract.

Central office works on any days that don't say holiday or schools AND offices are closed, if they don't they need to take leave. Depending on roles, some supporting services work on non-instructional days, others don't - for example, paras are generally not paid to work when there are no students, but building services are. Professional staff it's pretty much 10 month employees do not work if when schools are closed, unless is it is a professional development or teacher work day-- 12 months employees who get annual leave are only off when schools AND offices are closed. It is somewhat dependent on union and somewhat dependent on role. All supporting services are in the same union, many Central Office staff are part of MCEA, same as teachers, and then there are the administrators - principals, APs, supervisors, directors, chiefs...
