| I’m talking about the Guatemalan who got caught by ICE and tons of students at Blair were protesting for him to be brought back |
| She’s still in Guatemala, last I heard. A Blair teacher visited her over the summer. |
Where did you hear about that? |
| the school paper should write an update |
| Too bad MCPS doesn't offer virtual for that child. |
My son was friends with her and knows the teacher who visited. |
Happy to use the funds for MCPS on kids who are US citizens.
|
Not all us citizens pay taxes. |
| The teacher went of her own accord. MCPS didn’t pay for her travel! |
And yet, if they are US citizens they should receive public education. There is no obligation to people who just show up. |
Just federal law |
| I suspect if ICE went though the halls of Blair it would be more than one student removed |
That's not true. According to SCOTUS, there is in fact an obligation with regards to K-12 education, regardless of immigration status. |
The point is that ICE would not "go through the halls of Blair" or any other MCPS high school because accessing the halls would require a judicial warrant naming a specific individual. We still have some semblance of rule of law around here. |
They could just hand out at the Mcdonalds across the street and have the same success |
