Canvas access problem

Does anybody have the same problem and know how to solve it? From Parentvue, I try to access myMCPS, but the message says, You must first login to Synergy. My understanding is Parentvue is in fact Synergy. How do you solve this issue? Thanks.

It's complicated. You need to be very specific about which app or website addresses you are visiting.

If you start in the app on your phone, some links go to the website, and your app login doesn't count there.

The best way is to visit the Synergy website, even if you are on your phone:

And stay on the Web, not go to the App

Are you doing it from the app or mobile website or on a desktop? The answer may vary depending on that.

Of you are trying to set up the Canvas app on your phone, follow the Google doc very carefully.

Thank you DCUM guru. I got that error for months last year and was never able to get to MCPS classroom. Now I can.

NP also just saying thanks. I could access it just fine all last year and tried to day and finally gave up thinking it was down.

Hooray for DCUM. MCPS tech is embarrassingly poor but at least there are a few parents who manage to explain how to get around the bugs.

That it is this complicated and finicky means a lot of caregivers will never see what they are trying to see. Many are too busy, and a lot just don't know how to troubleshoot or deal with tech issues, nor should they. Expecting old, confused people to figure all this out is ridiculous.

Another option is to switch browsers. I couldn't get into Canvas from ParentVue in Chrome, but I could in Edge. (Probably also could have updated everything, cleared cookies and history, and restarted, but I was too lazy.)

I must have spent at least 8 hours trying to deal with Parentvue/Canvas/Synergy platform errors and access issues last year. My spouse spent nearly as much time. We have 4 advanced degrees between us and are native English speakers so could go through MCPS’s website and DCUM to read tips about how to deal with issues. And we still found it extremely challenging.

I am years and years in with ParentVUE, canvas, and they don’t work properly for me in the way I read they work for many people.

I will get a canvas app notification about a grade or comment. When I click on the notification, it takes me to canvas but it’s blank. I get the same notification via email and when I click on the email, I see the grade or comment.

Ha yes that error is my nemesis, but I have the same problem whether it’s email or the app.
