| So weird thing happened this afternoon. I was about to go out thru garage (door was up already) and this bird (no bird expert but I do believe it's a juvenile blue jay) came right up to me. At first I thought he was injured but I think he was just hungry. I fed him some breadcrumbs and gave him some water. It wouldn't fly away and spent three hours hanging around with me. Now, he is in the garage sleeping (I had to lower the door). I am hoping tomorrow he will go his way. Anything I should be aware of? |
| Breadcrumbs aren't that great, give him softer grains and pieces of fruit. If he's a late nestling, he can't eat harder nuts and seeds yet. |
| Aww, sweet! I have a juvenile catbird living in my backyard. I feel very protective of it! I mostly make sure it has ample clean water and I read that they (catbirds) like fresh fruit. So I gave it some grapes and a few earthworms. |

Had a robin that would nest on patio every year.
She would come peck at the window each year after her chicks hatched and say hi. Then once chicks were getting out of the nest, she'd bring them up to the window and peck and peck until we would come to look at them. She did that for several days and then they'd be flying off. She hung around and would peck the glass each day until we came to say hi. She returned for 4 years like that, always pecking at the glass to summon us to the window to say hi and to show off her babies. Then one year she was gone. |
