Item 7.11 human resources and talent management. What does this include? Will they discuss backlog of employee background checks at this meeting?

It's just a consent item for the board to approve. "The monthly human resources and talent management report provides a summary and status update of new employees, employee resignations, employee terminations, and employee retirements of Montgomery County Public Schools"

"a summary and status update of new employees......employee terminations.." Sounds like they should be talking about whether those new employees will be verified and reasons for terminations of mcps employees?

Any discussion about particular employees would happen during the closed session. This agenda item is just for them to approve receiving the report.

Just tuning in. Anything good from the public comments portion?

More parliamentary fumbling on the contract voting with this board. How are these people allowed to fail this badly over and over again?

The woman responsible for reading out and explaining the board's legislative priorities is painful to listen to. Is there no one else within the BOE ecosystem who is competent and capable that could've done this job?

She's fine. It's literally her job.

She's not, but if you're happy with this BOE I know your standards are low.

What does the MBLI resolution that did not get a vote mean? MBLI asked to increase their enrollment for this school year from 250 to 290, Taylor recommended voting to deny the resolution, but no one on the board was willing to put a motion on the table to vote on the request.

So does this essentially mean the BOE denied the request without voting to deny the request?

A favor to ask of those of you who follow this stuff ....
I work with a group of boy scouts that are required to attend (can be virtually) a meeting of the school board, county council, etc., at which different viewpoints on an issue are discussed and then report to me on them. I'm constantly looking for good/interesting opportunities for them.
Did anything interesting happen today that might be good for teens to listen to and discuss, especially if they are not already deeply into the MCPS politics? Most of them are MCPS students so this stuff does affect them. Thank you!!!

Maybe they can explore this system’s commitment to antagonizing their constituents.

So as a Scout parent, the point of them attending the meeting is for them to learn government, community engagement.

BOE meetings are a perfect way for them to learn this since, as you said, the decisions of the BOE directly affect them, if they're MCPS students.

That being said, it's a crap shoot as to which meetings will be "interesting" to them, since it depends on the scout, their level of interest in local politics and the particulars of the meeting agenda that they happen to sit on.
