Which MAP test scores are used for the MCPS HS criteria based programs?

The FAQ explanation is very vague. Which specific MAP test scores will be used? Winter 2024? Spring 2025? or Fall 2025?

I think it says somewhere that they look at the best MAP test score (MAP-M for Blair, MAP-R for the humanities magnets) of the Spring 7th grade or fall 8th grade

Yes that’s right-and how ridiculous it is that a single MAP R or MAP M test largely determines admission to a high school program. It’s not even a test of cognitive ability-it’s a test of exposure (one reason to push your kid to do Algebra in 6th grade.)

Same ability, two kids. one taking Algebra in 6th grade will have an advanatge when it comes to MAP score in 7th/8th grade.

Does any of this matter now that the board is going to have regional magnets and will need to fill those spaces?

Wouldn't it be all the advanced track kids from ES getting into the advanced classes in high school?
