Arlington Academy - Favorites

I know some coaches have favorites but Arlington, in particular EG and AW, are soooo obvious about it and no one has called them out. Had we known ahead of time, we would have never come over.

It’s almost to the point that unless you suck up to them, you won’t get preferential treatment, ie playing time, social media posts, etc.

Come on coaches…..be better. Or is that expecting too much.

EG on women’s side? yes, she has faves and she likes extroverts. Tell your daughter she’s gotta fake having an upbeat can do attitude.

Same goes for AW. If you don’t suck up to her she won’t give you the time of day. She sits on the sidelines during games with her hoodie on away from the team. Ask the keepers that left Arlington bc of her the last few years. We lost a some really good keepers to neighboring clubs like VDA and Union.

This. Oh, and don’t forget the love they show team managers who are otherwise bubble players that should not be on academy.

Season just started and they both coach younger teams. How could this be true already.

EG coaches 08/07 team and AW coaches all girls academy keepers.

EG in over her head since day 1. At least she hires women to coach girls so thats a plus

Let me guess. Your DD was a favorite at her old club where your whining resulted in some beneficial influence with the coaches. Now that it doesn’t you whine to DCUM. Guarantee there’s a lot more to your story OP and the other parents know your identity, and cringe when they see you coming.

Nah, she just has a type! Every coach does. The job of the player is to figure out what you need to do to fit into what your coach wants. Hopefully it’s mostly on the field stuff, but coaches also have off the field things as well. EG isn’t mean, and she knows the game - but she does have favorites, and she likes outgoing players. Over time she should learn to have ways to deal with differences in personality, but she’s a young coach.

When you say personality you really mean Attitude. That’s a basic term coaches use to help determine coachability. It’s also one of the few things your DD should be able to control, along with effort. Basic executive functioning. This all starts at home.
