We're building an outdoor patio, 14' X 16'. Trying to decide whether to have a built-in fire pit or get a portal fire pit that we can move. Thoughts on the pros and cons. |
Why not have both options? |
Was going to say this also. A stone lined built in one looks more classy, but a chiminea pot is great when the breeze is not favorable. |
Why would you need both a built in pit and a portable one? Serious question. |
Why not, is a more serious question. |
We did a built in and our neighbors have flipped out |
What dimension does this portal take you to? |
We have a built in gas firepit and I love it. All I have to do is turn the lever and light. So easy |
Natural gas or LP? Do you use rock of some sort, or the glass stuff, or fake metal logs? |
If you prefer a wood fire, I'd get a Solo Stove.
If you prefer a gas fire, I'd go with a built-in. |
How do you envision using the patio? Will you ever use it for something other than a fire pit? Ie a long table dinner, baby/wedding shower out there? I'm just wondering if it will need to be a more flexible space in which case a portable pit would be better. But if it's only going to be used as a firepit area, the built in is more beautiful and stable. |
NP. Why? I'm considering putting a fire pit in and am genuinely curious why neighbors would care. |
+1 |
Natural gas. Bottom lined with rocks and large ceramic balls on top. No logs, real or fake. |
This is the most important factor. |
