Souper cubes?

Anonymous
Anyone use them?

Debating investing in a set (I try to meal prep on weekends when possible, the usual WOH/busy kids scenario) and I'm wondering whether all the positive reviews I'm seeing are legit.

TIA

Never heard of these. Sounds gimmicky tho.

Yes, I bought a couple last year.

They work pretty much as described. Food does freeze well in them and it is easy to get the frozen cubes out of them. I like that the portions are small so easier to pack for lunches or reheat for just one person's meal. They work well for liquidy soups; less well for chunky things like mac n cheese.

I personally just never remember to do that - and forget to them remove the cubes and put them in a ziplock so I can reuse the cubes for the next thing! So they are not really being used right now. Thanks for the reminder!

I got some for Christmas. I make a
lot of soup, and a lot of pasta sauce so I like them for those things. I didn’t pay for them so I can’t comment on how much they cost or their value.

Thanks, PPs!

I have them and use them. It's pretty easy to get frozen food out. We mainly use them to freeze single portions of leftovers for lunches later. The mini ones are good for pesto, salsa, etc. in individual portions.

I have them and use them regularly. Mostly for soups and chili, but also to portion cooked rice. Also, I use them as molds for a Thai dessert that requires layering agar jelly - they release so much more easily than glass or metal.

I don’t find much use for the small versions.

I am intrigued enough by them to order some. My sons off to college and I want to quit cooking every night and I also want to be able to eat decent food. It sounds promising, but I can also see me forgetting about all the frozen blocks in my freezer : )

I never ended up using mine and gave them to a neighbor.

Yeah, I think they are basically great for people with good Home Ec Skills already.

If you routinely freeze portions of soups and stews in tupperware, and freeze extra pesto in ice cube trays, they are probably even better than that and you will put them to good use.

If you don't do that now, these cubes aren't likely to make you start doing it.

This is my experience as well. They work, but I forget to dump the frozen cubes in another container.
