DD is 9. Thinking about somewhere in Europe. Any suggestions? |
I would go to Mexico City. Shorter and cheaper. Super easy to get around and so much to do and see. |
You have got to be kidding!! |
I went to Mexico City last fall with my 10 yo dd and we had a good trip, but I would NOT say it was easy to get around. We had to modify a lot of our itinerary. The traffic was so horrendous. Even though Ubers are ubiquitous, it takes so long to get anywhere. We were not conveniently located to the subway, and I'm not sure we would have wanted to navigate that anyway. It would have been a lot easier with my 12 yo dd, who loves walking and museums - but 10 yo does not love museums and is not a great walker, so we had to get more creative. If you do go -I can give you some recs. But if we were in the DMV area, I would have gone to Puerto Rico or Spain instead to practice our Spanish. (We are in a plains state and Mexico City was the only easy "interesting" place for us to get to). |
Mexico City is in Europe ???? I must have slept longer than I thought. |
My European suggestion is Bermuda. |
Im the poster who suggested Mexico City. I’m sorry you had a tough time getting around. It’s one of the largest cities in the world so yeah, you need to be strategic about where you stay. We stayed in Condesa at a great Airbnb apartment with a pool and found it very easy to get around. We did a couple great Airbnb experiences (churro making class and a craft class). Spring weather is perfect. We even did a side trip to Valle de Bravo for a few days and took the bus. It’s one of my favorite cities in the world and in my opinion great for kids! Agree that you can never go wrong with Puerto Rico! |
London and Amsterdam |
Mine is LA. |
what's she interested in? is she studying another language? I would look for the best flights and then decide. But UK and Iceland are shorter flights from the east coast. |
Lower Alabama ? |
Amsterdam or Paris |
Our family went to London and Paris this summer. London was easier and also way more fun with more (in our opinion) to do. So I’d vote London. |
Did a family trip to London at that age and it was perfect, so easy to get around. |
Definitely London. That age is perfect, will have a great time. |
