Do you know someone who is always planning their next meal?

For example at breakfast they are sitting with a full meal a full plate and they are planning lunch. Is this some kind of disordered eating?

I'm very close to someone like that. In fact, he's sitting in my chair.

I am lean and muscular with normal eating habits. I appreciate good meals and am a planer by nature. I can think ahead all week to the groceries I've bought and how they will be used each day.

Who are you with that you eat with them every single day every single meal?

Common in South Asian households IMHO and anecdata. My mom is always asking about the next meal. What do you all want to eat? What should I make? Ufffff!

Also, she makes everything from scratch. Beans have to be soaked overnight, protein needs to be marinated overnight, yogurt set overnight, dough kneaded overnight, peas shelled overnight...just a whole lot of prep work.

Omg, this was my Indian mom, too. It was exhausting but delicious. But I have nonstop food noise - not so much planning like she did - and am coveting GLP-1s to stop it.

My Indian dad does that, as did my grandfathers and pretty much all my uncles. 🤣

My ex (middle eastern) and his family are like this. It was most annoying on vacations. All we would do is plan the next place to eat. Could hardly enjoy sight seeing or anything else because the focus was always on the next meal.

Lots of retired people are like this.

I do this. But because I’m responsible for feeding the family, so I need to think ahead about anything I need to get or what I need to start cooking, or if I have to defrost something.

My AA in-laws are ALWAYS cooking and preparing the next meal.. Always.

I’m like this. It has more to do with trying to get my life organized. If I making dinner, what is it, do we have ingredients, when will people be home, when do I have to start.

I’m another south Asian who just posted that I do too because of all the planning. I had honestly made this connection because my food is so much simpler than what my parents made.

_not_ made the connection

When I was an au pair in France, granted, it was the summer, but yes, immediately after breakfast, I'd be helping prep the mid-day meal and someone in the family would be heading into town to pick up the meat, or main part of the meal.

Many many people are like this.
