Help decorating walls?

Anonymous
We’ve been in our house for three years. We finally finished a major basement renovation which took up a ton of time, energy, and money. But I’m still looking at nearly blank walls all over my house due to my paralysis over deciding what to hang and where. We have a lot of our own art we’d like to hang and need to choose some new which I have about a million choices open as tabs on my phone. I just can’t decide and figure this all out by myself.

Does anyone have a recommendation for this kind of designer or decorator or artist? I’m not trying to get a service for cheap — willing to pay — but it seems that the designers I’ve reached out to don’t want anything to do with “small” jobs like this.

Thank you!

Have you looked into online services like Havenly? They can be good for small things like this.

I used them for our living room which was helpful. But they do one room at a time and I’m more interested in looking at the whole house — what art would go well where, that kind of thing.

Hire an interior designer.

I have inquired with several but they won’t do mall jobs or have minimums that are designed for more fulsome jobs including furniture etc. We are furnished but I just have art paralysis.

Do you have any friends or family members whose home you really love? We just did a renovation and I was in the same boat. My sister-in-law has a really great eye so I asked her to help me decide where to put things.

Led Zeppelin, Poison, GNR, Def Lep, Rush posters.

Maybe a few Swayze Roadhouse posters along with a Top Gun one to round it out.

What’s your art budget, OP? Designers aren’t trying to be difficult, they just know what business model pays the bills. They can’t run around doing small jobs by the hour and make a living. But maybe an art consultant would work?

I think that’s what I’m looking for — “art consultant”. I had never heard that term.
I appreciate that! Thank you!
