Parker the security robot, is a five-foot tall, 400-pound security robot being tested in a MoCo parking garage. How do you think this is going to turn out? Do you think more Parkers are coming to a lot or other public spaces near you? Is this the future? Will we be walking around the neighborhood with a Parker-like companion instead of our dogs (will Parker-ots poop on lawns and be able to scoop their own shit)? |
More people are apparently turning into homebodies. If they don't go outside, do we really need security robots? |
How much was spent did they increase taxes to get those robots? |
How can Parker defend himself? |
I assume Parker can right itself, because it's going to spend a lot of tipped over otherwise. |
This is the first I’ve heard of it. I found this news clip on Youtube if anyone wants more info:
The reporter said its features were panoramic cameras, a license plate reader, and a distress call button. While I’m sure those are important features, couldn’t we get similar features by installing extra cameras (including some positioned to catch the license plates) along with some devices like SIRI that could be voice-activated to call the police? Wouldn’t that be more cost effective? |
It's a test. Eventually, MoCo will want the robots roaming the streets. |
This parking lot was the site of a tragic incident that perhaps could have been prevented if a Parker existed? It's going to take some time getting used to. |
To do what? If humans are all inside, what's the need? |
It's no ED209, so not impressed. How it handle stairs? ![]() |
Is it wrong that I kind of want to run him over with my Cybertruck? |
It will definitely get attacked and graffitied up. Look at all the videos of smart-delivery robots that get attacked and robbed. It's funny when the robot starts pleading "please stop! please stop!". Very dystopian. If A.I. takes over, I hope it remembers I always thanked it when asking it a question. |
Eh. Extra cameras won’t do anything. Someone smashed my window and grabbed my stuff when there were literally 3 highly visible cameras right next to it. And the police were completely useless, they never even bothered to investigate because crime is so prevalent now.
It’s security theater. It makes people feel better but it’s not going to actually fix anything. I’ve pretty much accepted that the US is well into third world country status and we’re all screwed. |
Sure, MAGA, sure. |
Is it bullet proof? |
