Anyone know when MCAP scores are supposed to come out?

The fall.

Such a ridiculous lag. My kids spent at least 4 full class days on MCAP testing this spring and it amazes me that MCPS can’t get the scores back to 5 months plus by which time the data are stale.

2023-2024 school year scores came out literally a week before my DC was to start MCAP for 2024-2025(this spring). So who knows when they will be out. Its ridiculous!

Some schools started sending out score reports along with Q1 report card for students to take home. No mailing from Central Office because (as they told parents) there was one person at Central stuffing envelopes of 100k students and that process took over 8 months. But it doesn't look like all schools sent home the mcap score report with students. .......Someone will now join this discussion to say those scores don't matter. Then someone else will ask why are they wasting students and teachers time on this. Then a poster will say it's state requirement. Another will suggest the state should be in charge of mailing scores/report to families. Another will question why don't they just put the scores on ParentVue just like parents have access to MAP-R and MAP-M/P results. A different poster will say MCPS is not technologically advanced they could but they don't.

Taking the bait, here...

It looks like the state will be sending the Individual Score Reports to districts by September 12th this year: https://support.mdassessments.com/resources/training/MCAP%20Spring%202025%20Reporting%20Key%20Dates.pdf

Then it's anyone's guess how long it takes MCPS to get them out to families after that...

+1 Seconding the bait. There's no reason every parent in MCPS should be waiting for Larla in MCPS to stuff 100,000 envelopes if MCPS gets the data on September 12. Why can't they just put it on ParentVue? We didn't get test results til March last year--who cares about data from 9 months ago?

10:13 forgot to say MCPS doesn't want parents to see how "bad" their kid performed or how their kid's school performed. Do they think parents won't care nine months later when parents finally receive the previous year's results?

Does State snail mail reports to districts?
do they also send electronic copy of results to districts?

Do districts tweak results before sending to schools?

Does Central office (district) also send electronic reports to schools?

Ding, ding, ding. I think you've picked up on the real reason behind the delay!

And yes, receiving the results a year later ABSOLUTELY dulls the impact of the results!

MCPS has a testing and reporting unit with 3 fulltime staff members (names and emails listed here). Perhaps a few of us can ask and report back.

Why would that be the reason? We receive MAP tests 3x a year, fairly soon after our kid takes them. There's no reason to sit on MCAP data for nearly a year.

MCPS: We have other data we use instead
State: you still have to test your students

MCPs required to administer the tests. They probably don't think it's useful data that actually helps assist a student in a classroom. Schools give up 4+ days of school for these state mandated tests.

This is useful background to understand the lack of coherence between MCPS and Maryland state testing policy.

Still, if the State gives MCPS the testing data in September, why do we have to wait seven months to receive it as parents? MCPS isn't mailing it from Antaractica and it's perfectly possible for MCPS to upload it in ParentVue.
