So we’ve gotten info about the new cell phone policies, but where can I find the updated code of conduct? I haven’t heard anything about this from MCPS since the May news stories. Seems like principals and teachers would receive training this summer on the new policies. For so long MCPS teachers have been brainwashed to handle everything themselves or risk retaliation.

Supposedly admin are being trained on it as we speak.
Parents and students will see it when school starts I guess, with no input or collaboration from us. |

Teachers start the 18th, did you think they were going to be called in over the summer to review a handbook?
Schools have made their own rules for a long time now, you will be okay, or do you think the community was asked their opinion about the no chewing gum rule in the 80s 😂 The entitlement is crazy. |
The PTA, SGA and BOE exist because there is an expectation of community and collective input on policy decisions. I don’t see how an update to the Code of Conduct, which is a policy document, should be done without soliciting parent and student input, since it governs expectations and consequences that those two groups must comply with. |
I’m not worried about my well-being. I don’t trust MCPS. Why would they share a cell phone policy ahead of time, but not the code of conduct? They sure talked a big game about it in the spring. |

Students and parents will get a copy in the when school starts like always. The important changes will be remind in the principal newsletter, teachers/counselors in class and parents will hear at back to school night.
