Finger foods to go with lemon bars

Anonymous
I'm having a get together with my sisters and a few friends. It's already been requested that I make my "famous" lemon bars. What other easy finger foods should I serve with those? They have a pretty strong lemon flavor. Does that matter when it comes to other offerings?

What time? Meal time or no?

Are you just looking for desserts? I think berries and lemons are a great combo, so I might serve fresh berries. I also think that chocolate is a nice contrast, so maybe brownies? Or I will vote for snickerdoodles just because I love them.

If you are doing appetizers, I think you can really serve anything with lemon bars.

No, just have other things too—something chocolate, some fruit, cheese and crackers. I

I would include a charcuterie board with meats, cheeses, crackers, dried apricots, grapes, etc. Fruit on the charcuterie board balances it out.

Charcuterie, yes
Olive bar
Shrimp cocktail

Sugar cookies, butter sprintzes, .

Does it have to compliment lemon bars though? Surely, your whole family potluck isn't circling-around your lemon bars.

OP here. Thanks for the ideas. It's just a casual evening get together. In the 8pm to 11pm timeframe after people would have likely had dinner with their young kids. Thanks again!

Little fruit skewers with berries?

My experience is that groups of women eat so, so little. So i would do the lemon bars, cut small, and fruit, and I wouldn't bother with cheese/crackers unless you feel confident your friends will eat it.

I sometimes serve those wrapped Andes mints in a bowl and I am always surprised at how popular they are. I think because they are tiny and wrapped, so it's easy to pick them up without utensils.

People won't eat much at an 8pm gathering so I would do your lemon bars, a bowl of fresh berries, maybe put out a nice box of chocolates.

Spanakopita and/or baked brie with crackers if you think you need something savory.

I would only make what you are asked to make. They did not ask you for your "famous finger foods" (sounds nasty.)

You’ve never heard of finger food?

Cheese, crackers, and fruit. Maybe some prosciutto. Wine, tea, and decaf coffee.

Berries and homemade whipped cream with no or very little sweetener added because lemon bars are usually too sweet.

Decaf coffee and tea, maybe iced.

Pretzels or pita chips or something salty and crunchy.

Hummus and veggies.

Mixed nuts.
