Full list of upcoming planned or potential modernizations?

It's easy to find the list of current modernizations, and recent ones. But what about upcoming modernizations? Is there some kind of master list, even if there haven't been commitments yet?

Context: We are looking to lottery to a new elementary school this year, and having already been through one swing space/modernization process, I have no interest in another, so knowing which school are potentially next up for modernizations, ideally for the next 5-10 years, would be really valuable information for us. Even if it was just like "here's a list of all the schools that are in need of repair."

We knew for sure about our school modernization at least a full two years before we moved to the swing space, maybe even earlier, so there's at least gotta be more than just next year's projects.

What you're looking for is the PACE prioritization list in the city's Capital Improvement Plan. Modernization spending for the upcoming 5 or 6 years should also be evident in the city budget documents.

To supplement PP: here is the link to the proposed Capital Improvement Plan. You can find the schools you have in mind and see what's listed for them.

OP asks if there's an easily accessible list of schools to be modernized and you suggest that they review the city budgets? How the heck is that helpful???

There is an easily accessible list. It's one of the tables in the Capital Improvement Plan. OP already received that answer. But if you look in the city budget, there's more information about the renovations and timelines for each school.

Just to save you some time, none of the Ward 3 or Ward 6 (except Brent and JO Wilson) are due for modernization. All of the upcoming modernization are in wards 5, 7, and 8.

Seaton is coming up. Langley after that.

Ward 4 has upcoming modernizations.

That’s not true because both Amidon-Bowen and Chisholm are slated for modernizations in the near to medium term.

+1

And those schools are in desperate need of them!

This is the list from the 2023 Master Facilities Plan. The year listed is the proposed year of completion. Some of these are now out of date (Whittier was pushed back a year for swing space reasons, Coolidge's addition isn't done yet, etc.) but this can give you a sense. For accurate data, look at the Capital Improvement Plan, as mentioned above.

This thread is one of those exceedingly delicious DCUM interactions. Someone asked a question and was met with condescending responses to just review the entire budget! Then came the decisive statements about what wards were and were not in scope. Followed by the corrections to that certainty.

To summarize: This is obvious and everyone knows. Except no one knows anything.
