Honestly this is very concerning. |
| At always, 10% will say anything… virtual academy teachers feel not safe? |
I’m guessing kids threaten or Harass them. |
| Too many fights, too many poorly maintained buildings, no wonder students and staff feel unsafe. |
| Blake parent here, not surprised we’re this high in the list.. |
|
My kids both feel safe/happy at their schools which did very well so I’m glad the data reinforces this.
As a teacher in a cluster with much higher percentages, this is not surprising. Even in elementary schools, we allow crazy behaviors to happen. There are no consequences for kids in or out of schools. Teachers in my school already feel scared by some of the behaviors they see, and I can only imagine how much worse it is as the children get older/bigger/stronger. The county needs a way to keep students and staff safe! |
It was probably the admin...they weren't supportive to all staff. |
| I think the chart is misleading to group somewhat safe and not at all safe together. I ride metro everyday. I feel somewhat safe there. Generally but not 100%..My guess is any kud who watched the news would choose this answer for most parts of their day. |
| The fact that MCPS and the BOE think it's ok for students and staff to feel unsafe at school regularly, year after year, with no consequence or meaningful change is a disgrace. Thomas Taylor, Marcus Jones and Peter Moran should be ashamed of themselves. And the BOE should be held accountable by the County Council for failing in its oversight responsibilities. |
It depends on what your goal is. Is it the goal of MCPS to have every child feel safe or is somewhat safe ok with them? |
Nicely said, but it will never happen. |
Agreed. I don’t feel completely safe anywhere! |
| Are the NEC schools even THAT dangerous? |
Agreed. The meaningful stat is on "not at all safe" percentages. They gave that for some schools but not all |
| You need to look at the individual questions. Taylor promised to work on safety. Still waiting to see what that means. |
