13 yo AuDHD ds struggling with friendships

Anonymous
My 13 yo ds has one friend. He and this boy have been thick as thieves all summer. Though, these past 2 weeks, the other boy is suddenly “busy” we ran into the boy’s mom yesterday and my son said he called the other dc to do something but he was busy. The mom said, “he’s just riding bikes with Liam, call them and say you want to go”

DS felt weird and didn’t. The last time he saw the boy, they were at our house and they were laughing and having fun. I’m not sure what’s going on but I feel bad. My ds has called him a few times but it went from the boy calling and texting every day to no communication.

You can’t depend on one child for friendship and this is why. Make new friends, join a club, go to VBS, whatever.

Give your child opportunities to form friendships with others. His entire socialization with peers should not weigh on just one person.
