Does anyone have any suggestion for a practitioner who’s do a standalone ADOS without a full neuropsych? |
Sure - the autism clinics do this. KKI etc. school can do it as well as part of an IEP eval. Although I’m not sure how well trained they are. |
Lol, schools are not administering the ADOS. OP, try Lisa Lenhart. |
Schools do not diagnose ASD. |
Isn't there a category for autism in special education? I think a friend's kid got a diagnosis through an IEE and then they increased the IEP services. |
Some schools have psychologists who are trained in the ADOS. Most don’t, though |
DP. That's an educational diagnosis, but not a medical diagnosis. Another reason schools often do not have the ADOS is that the materials kit is $2800. |
Okay but it is an educational autism diagnosis - meaning schools do indeed diagnose autism from an educational perspective? |
Technically, it’s an educational “classification” not a “diagnosis.” It matters for certain things and is semantics for others. |
We got an ASD diagnosis from a psychologist in the MoCo Infants and Toddlers program and it was accepted by insurance for services. |
We got the ADOS from KKI’s autism clinic. |
The Infants and Toddlers psychologists (of which there are very few) have clinical doctorates and are qualified to clinically diagnose autism. Not the same as a school psychologist, who have a more limited master's degree. |
