Crocs shoes

Anonymous
DC does not want to wear keen water shoes to camps that involves some outdoor walking on soil/dirt and creek. Is it dangerous to wear Croc shoes? I don't wear them, and I don't see any grips on the bottom of those cros shoes. I have seen a few pictures of other kids wearing them.

Usually they just need closed-toe shoes with backs. Crocs fulfill those requirements as long as the straps are in "sports mode."

Yes. They are slippery and lead to twisted ankles.

My son was the same way. Crocks were always ok.

Our preschool & public school banned them, I finally agreed to get crocs ( the slip resistant kind) for its for swim team only, car ride with very little walking is fine. DH had a terrible fall wearing crocs.

FYI it’s “crocs”, not croc shoes. I’m not trying to be rude. Just letting you know.

They are so ugly that I made them illegal in my home. Natives are the way we go.

Why doesn't DC want to wear keens? Is it something about the fit?

Personally, I loathe Crocs. Besides the fact that they're absolutely hideous, they're not good for doing any activities, and all the reasons other posters have already mentioned. I know they're trendy again, for reasons that completely escape me, but I'll never buy a pair for myself of my kid.

Plenty of kids wear crocs as their daily shoe wear. I don’t recommend them for extended exercise or physical activity as they have absolutely not support whatsoever. Additionally, if they will be wearing it in the water isn’t a good idea.
I wear them after long distance races and my kids wear them after their cross country activities (13 and 9), but not really any other time.

I had the daycare confiscate my son's crocs--they're not allowed at school, but they were his favorite and he had a way of sneakily changing into them before we got in the car. After our daughter tattled on him one day, requiring us to return home to get some acceptable shoes (which made us all late), I asked his teachers to hide the shoes upon arrival. Problem solved!
