| Rising 2nd graders were expected to take the COGAT this fall. I believe they were the last group to take the NNAT as 1st graders. However, the official AAP site does not specify it anymore. Anyone else aware of this change? |

Maybe there's a contract recompete? Testing schedule still says some sort of "nationally normed ability test"
https://www.fcps.edu/academics/advanced-academic-programs-aap/identification-and-placement-advanced-academics-program-1 But yes, looks like it's no longer guaranteed to be the CogAT. |
| Maybe they are going by the HOPE scale alone? |
| Although removed from AAP section, it is still listed an as form of a test in 1st grade (NNAT) and 2nd grade(COGAT). Is there an official confirmation that there is no NNAT in 1st grade? |
| So we are eliminating all objective criteria? |
I'm curious to know as well. |
There still remains the HOPE scale. That’s objective. |
No, they say they are going to use a nationally normed ability test, just not which one. There are lots of other options - OLSAT springs to mind immediately, for example. |
That was supposed to be a joke, right? |
Objectively what? Objectively bad? |
Why would you say that? What’s wrong with using the HOPE scale for AAP admissions? |
I didn't say anything was wrong with it. I said it's not objective. It's filled out by a committee of people - inherently subjective. I'm sure they do their best to view each student in an unbiased manner, but they're people! |
| Hope is completely biased and a waste of time. |
| Considering that some parents delay their children's school entry by a year, it's difficult to believe that the HOPE assessment is entirely free of bias. |
I feel like you didn't understand what objective means. The hope scale is entirely subjective. |
