There are a lot of threads here about rage. Yes it’s a symptom. Of course PeriM/M is hard on marriages, kids, other relationships.

Therapy.

For me the only thing that has helped is HRT. When I say it was a very serious problem, has negatively impacted my family especially my children, I am not joking. No amount of therapy or meditation would help. The rage was like a switch, it just happened instantly, no time to count to ten. Now, I have plenty of time to control the rage.

5 mg lexapro worked wonders for my rage and hot flashes. I get ocular migraines so I can’t take anything with estrogen in it.

Low dose prozac. Life changing.

Agree with others above to find medication solution. It's a chemical imbalance, so you can't "think" your way out of it. You need a chemical solution. I will add that I'm on HRT and it's helped tremendously, but I still have occasional flare ups, and I just try to remove myself from people/ situation for just a little bit.

Though I don’t have a regular cycle these days, I can pinpoint my rage to a couple days per month. I’m on HRT and it hasn’t changed that aspect of peri all that much.

Since it’s just a day here and there, I take a micro amount of THC (2.5 mg) to chill me out on those days.

And wear noise-cancelling headphones because the sound of my husband’s iPad or movies will make me furious. Good times.
