The Last Kingdom

I just watched this series - enjoyed most of
it! I was a big fan of Game of Thrones and Rome, and this is of those genres.

Spoilers/questions-

The last season, maybe even some of the penultimate season, of the series tanked (I saw there is a post-series movie which I haven’t watched - maybe the writers agreed and pushed for better endings?). It was too rushed in plot line development, and as a result many characters actions did not make sense. How did Aethelfled all of a sudden become the love of Uhtred’s life? Why did Sigtrygrr need to die (I loved his character), and why did Stiora later turn on Uhtred (yes I know that Uhtred was executioner, but reluctantly and by request of Sigtrygrr, as Stiora witnessed) and why did she blame Breeta for Sigtrygrr’s death? Uhtred’s relationship with his children never made a lot of sense (including their ignoring there was a 3rd child until a passing reference in the final episode).

Anyway, I did enjoy most of the series. It bugs me when a good series gets rushed in the end.

Biggest question- what to watch next if I enjoyed The Last Kingdom, Game of Thrones and Rome.
