do most kids bring air purifiers?

Seems kids these days bring a lot more stuff that we did. One thing I see on many lists is air purifier. Is that pretty standard to bring, or just wait and see if the air quality is obviously problematic? I'm willing to buy, but costs are adding up and I'm trying to prioritize what's important.

Definitely not, but my kid is headed to school 2,000 miles away, so we are being very intentional about packing.

Nope. I don't think so.

I didn’t with oldest, they opened window if anyone was sick and nothing spread. He has a strong immune system. Contemplating for youngest who catches everything though.

You should get air purifiers because dorms are hotbed of mold, rat poop, cockroaches in the walls, and COVID type of microbes.

Would have to have a HEPA filter to do anything.
Opening a window is probably a better option for cleaning the room air.

My daughter ran hers all year (and yes, changed the filter at winter break). It’s small so not a huge deal.

Plus pot smoke/vape, dirty laundry, rotting food, used condoms, etc., etc.

Buy things when you get there or ship ahead. Can sell before returning for summer or pay for local storage.

Dorms are always always stinky. It's a must have!

DC has one of those small round Levoit ones in their room at home, and we plan to get another one for their college dorm when the time comes.

All of the air purifiers in the world can't help the boys' dorm rooms.

Absolutely, yes. IKEA has really nice ones for reasonable amount. The medium sized one is good for dorm room.
