Thank you, as did not see it pop up on search or social media. Someone has been posting this for months on here and all, self included, did not believe them. Go figure.

Wasn’t easier to get into U Mich EA. Will ED have a much higher acceptance rate?

Why are they making the change? Was their yield SO bad?

It is a smart move. Application volume has gone up so much in the last 3 cycles. Kids that apply to Ivies ED all apply to Michigan EA. Michigan then loses a huge portion of these admits to Ivies and Ivy+ schools. With ED, they will be able to determine who really wants to attend.

This. They lose most Ivy and other top20 kids and end up having to go to the wait list for thousands of kids each year.

It's frustrating for kids because at our private almost everyone who gets in EA or RD doesn't attend. So then the kids who are strong but not very top and who really, really want to attend have to wait for the waitlist. And they always get in off the waitlist but after a lot of stress.

Is this going to make ED at some Ivies, etc easier?

No, Ivy level want Ivy. No one with the chops is switching to Michigan ED.

I imagine it will mostly be Ross applicants that do ED, especially since now a Direct Admit with no LSA backup.

They had over 13,000 applicants to Ross this year for a class of 500. ED is a game changer.
